I did a search and didn't find any info/threads on how the engines come out, top or bottom, and if there are any tips for the job. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Here's the background. So just before the Squirt rolls over 178k, she ups and dies on me. 225psi compression in cylinders #1, #3, and #4. Nada, zilch, zip in #2. The local boneyard has a bunch of 1.4t for sale for $1k plus core ($75) and taxes. Guess what I'm doing this weekend. When I pulled the plugs, the #3 plug has about 50% of the side electrode missing. The #2 plug has no side electrode, missing about 75% of the insulator and 50% of the center electrode. It popped some codes and I will admit I was trying to limp her home when she passed away. I'll perform an autopsy on the old engine once she's back on the road.
