I've always used K&N filters from short ram to drop in. I've usually had MPG gains. But I decided to test the power difference. I also removed the restricted intake pipe that connects to the bottom of the air box and runs through the wheel well. On my initial road test with the K&N I noticed the audible blow-off noise and spool sound, although faint. It definitely pulled stronger and was definitely quicker all the way around. I did three control tests stock, and each time to 0-40 mph it stayed at 4.85ish seconds. Then I did three with the K&N and it averaged. 4.4ish seconds. So in my video I took the 2 fastest runs from each and compared them. Each run was at the exact same place and tempature. They were done days apart. Even on a full tank it was a .05 difference compared to a quarter tank. So with 3 control tests of each setup and seat of the pants feel, I'm going to conclude that adding the K&N drop in filter and removing the intake tube has to be the cheapest mod for a slight performance increase.
