Pressure testing the manifold-turbo lines.

Hi everyone!

I recently bought the following kit in order to pressure test my intercooler pipes and mainly the manifold with the vacuum lines.

What would my best option be in order to test the manifold with the small vacuum lines for a vacuum leak?

Just take the pipe off after the turbo and before the intercooler and pressurize the whole system from there using only the part of the kit with the air valve?
I don't want to test only the intercooler lines.
I'm pretty sure I have a vacuum leak at the manifold that's why I want to pressurize the whole system.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

If I'm understanding correctly you want to cap off the front charge tube before intercooler and pressurize the entire motor? This would just be a massive leak, there's probably slight overlap at one or more intake/exhaust valves.

These kits are designed to test charge tubes and intercoolers for leaks. Block off both ends and pressurize.

If you suspect the manifold, pull it and cut a really thick plastic piece or maybe 1/2" plexi that bolts to the throttle body and head flanges. Block off hoses/lines and pressurize. Seems like a lot of work, there's only a few places this manifold could be trash, either a split/crack or a broken pcv or bpv poppet valve. In any case, you'll need a new manifold if these things are broken.

Could send back the 50$ ebay gauge and buy a new 150$ ebay manifold.

You wont believe what I found by pressure testing the intake pipe from the air filter to the turbo....!! It was cracked in between a spot I'd never find and was causing all the problems to the car.
Unbelievable I have been to so many dealers and nobody was ever able to find the problem...because it wasn't evident under idle....!! Was forced to drive the car this way for almost 2 years with reduced power and high gas consumption....!!!
Finally found it!!
Now to replace it and see how it works out.

P.S The picture shows the cracked spot...
