P0335 - Crank Sensor.
Hi Everyone, I'm new to the Forum. For about a month my Wife was Driving the 2014 Sonic LT Automatic with a 1.8L engine with 131608kms.
She tells me the car cut off a few times while idling at a stop light. The Tachometer would drop to Zero , but after a restart, it was ok. I used a scan tool to read the codes. no codes. I drove it earlier this week and the same issue happen to me. It stalled in a parking lot and l lost the tach, but the check engine light came on, when i got home, I scanned it for codes and it showed a a P0335 - Crank Position Sensor.
I done a visual check of the connector and the harness of the sensor. it looked ok.. It happens twice after i drove. I went to the Chevy Dealer to get the OEM Part. Since I'm an Auto Tech by Trade, i figured i would replaced the Crank sensor myself. I had some choice words to do this repair.N-n Fun.
I jacked up the front of the car and used jack stands to support it. its best to do it on a hoist if possible. Not a lot of room to get both hands in the location. You have to removed the starter in order to remove the sensor, but you need to removed a "L" bracket to get access to the Top starter bolt(13mm Head). **you cannot access the top starter bolt from top** Anyways, once the starter is out, its still a bit of a task to remove it. The sensor comes with a new Hex bolt.. Once i installed the Sensor and then the starter. tested drove it and it seems to running ok. no issues so far
If you don't have the proper tools available its best to sent to shop or garage to get it replaced.
From all the twisting and turn, I'm going to be sore tomorrow, not as young as i once was!!!!!
Thanks for reading my post. any questions let me know..
