I checked the work of the dealer Tech. after my first oil change was completed. (I mean I checked the levels on flat ground the morning after my oil was changed/fluids was checked/filled).
---Now here it is time for oil change # 2. (Friday 2/8/12). So last week sometime I checked fluids again and noticed my coolant resevoir was considerably LOW compared to the level it was right after oil change #1. Started watching my mirrors real close, sure didnt see any smoke from the tailpipe. Havent noticed any wet spots on driveway either.
Took the car to the dealer for my oil change and told the adviser about the coolant loss. Even opened the hood to show him the previous level. At that time there was a very obvious odor of coolant, but no smoke or steam anywhere.
The Tech said he could not detect any smoke from the pipe. The pressure check on the coolant system showed no leaks. (All of that is OK) Except when he said the coolant level was accurate--HOWEVER--he added coolant to the bottle. (My take on this--IF the leval was correct, there would be no reason to add more). When the service adviser called me today (to ask about my service yesterday. -- Common practice for this dealer) I told him in no uncertain terms that I thought they was giving me the runaround.
------Now call me crazy, but I have a good friend that happens to be a sales manager at this dealership. When I dropped my car off Friday, I went to chat with my buddy there, AND, to ask him for a car to drive to go get something to eat. He proceded to tell me that while HE was driving a new Sonic back from the Auto Show, it literally blew up because his techs there failed to fill the coolant to the proper level. BTW-this particular Sonic was trailered to the show, so my friend driving it back was the first "miles" that Sonic had seen.
Anyone else losing coolant? Better check yours! Where is yours going? If you are losing some! "Vanessa can chime in anytime"
