It's review time, and boy, did I have the biggest, cheesin' grin on my face last night after fixing suspension bits, adding a rear bar and finally installing the coil pack kit.
The BNR LS7 coil pack kit is absolutely wonderful and is a must have upgrade. No joke. The difference was night and day and now makes me wonder, what the hell was GM thinking by putting in this cheap, crappy coil pack bar from the factory. The main things I noticed right off the bat were actually surprising.
The popcorn start is now completely gone. So anyone with a 2012 and ported the intake manifold or atmospheric release BPV shouldn't experience this quirk anymore. It also idles smoother too.
This upgrade fixed my hard braking to a stop lurch/stutter when the trans goes into first (could be TCM tuning magic by jerry). I know this was an issue at one point for those with automatic transmissions.
The car now has a more whole hearted decel pop instead of a weak sounding snap crackle pop. It also does it less frequently.
Gas mileage went up quiet a bit. Was actually seeing 45mpg out of an automatic with a tool chest in the trunk and a passenger.
Throttle response got a major upgrade and getting into boost feels smoother and faster. Much easier to modulate the throttle and get the boost levels you want.
The injector pulse tick became more rhythmical and less random sounding. Actually sounds like everything is firing under proper timing, despite sounding more pronounced and louder. Not going to complain.
Acceleration is improved and it actually feels stronger in the upper RPM range with better acceleration. The low end has more grunt to it as well, using less fuel as a result.
This part isn't anything performance wise, but ease of maintenance has actually gone up with this kit. Now I no longer need to fish for a T30 Torx bit just to pull off my coil pack to check my spark plugs and or disconnect the harness for the coil packs. This saves about 5 minutes and reduces the amount of tools needed.
Overall, I'm very happy with this kit and I would recommend this 10/10 every time. Plus it also helps that if anyone needs replacement parts, they can just go to the dealership parts counter and pick up new plug wires and coil packs which means the parts are plentiful.
Disclaimer: You must be BNR tuned for this upgrade.
