I'd like to first start off by saying thank you to Jerry for his excellent customer service and amazing tunes that he provides for the 1.4t. I have a 2013 Sonic LTZ with the 1.4t engine and a 6 speed manual. I started modding my car a couple years ago and started with the trifecta select-a-tune, and then the Elite tune. I now currently have a ZZP turbo back, ported intake manifold, DDM intake, Bosch 42s, and a BNR E85 tune (i do not have the flex fuel sensor).
Here are the differences i noticed between just a BNR tune and a Trifecta tune. First, BNR provides you with a small handheld tuner that holds up to 5 tunes amd records all of your data logs. Trifecta requires you to store, load, and log your tunes on your laptop. Second, the BNR tunes take 1 minute to flash, Trifecta on the other hand was around 10-15 mins. To me, the quickness and ease of tuning was very appealing.
Now as for the tunes, the BNR tune feels alot more powerful than the trifecta tune, while also having a more solid feel. To me, my Trifecta Elite tune felt more like a beta version where sometimes full boost would come in and sometimes it wouldnt. BNR laid the power down consistantly every time.
Now for E85. Ive been driving around on this tune for about a month in freezing cold michigan. My gas milage has gone down to roughly 26 miles per gallon according to my dash, but the power is intoxicating. I was shocked at how noticible the difference was. The only time i will be going back to 93 is if i am running out of gas on a road trip where i cant find E85.
To finish my review, Jerry has outstanding customer service. He responds promptly to questions either via email or social media, he listens to what ever requests you have to incorporate into your tune and makes them happen, and he doesnt just settle on a tune after a data log or two. I have had to take a few data logs to finally dial in my tune, and Jerry also provided me with some information of whats going on in the logs. Trifecta on the other hand took a very long time to reply to logs and emails and also did not appear to put much efforts into their fine tuning.
At the end of the day, i took the plung and spent the money to switch to the BNR tune while i already had the Trifecta tune and it was worth every single penny and more. You are paying not just for the best tune on the market, but also for Jerrys outstanding customer serivce and unlimited re-tunes (no extra charge for E85 tunes, where Trifecta would have charged me a fee for an E85 tune).
If you have any questions about my experience or my car please dont hesitate to ask.
