TL;DR Jerry is awesome, get the tune.
I bought my tune from BNR and it didn't take long at all to arrive. I got the autocal, uploaded my cars stock tune to it, and sent the info. The initial tune was for 91 octane (which I've always ran) and I requested 170hp. Got the new tune, put it in the car and logged info to send back. Was told there was retard knock caused by bad gas or spark plugs. Spark plugs were changed last year, I still checked the gaps and they were correct. With Jerry's blessing, I switched gas to 93 octane from a different gas station, data logged again, and sent it in. He confirmed everything was good afterwards. The only request I made was to change when the max boost kicks in. I loved the power I was getting but I wanted it sooner, as max boost wasn't coming on until 3,500+ RPM. Until that point it felt stock. Too conservative for my tastes. Jerry obliged, sent me a new, adjusted tune and I took it for a spin. I love it! Max boost comes on earlier (closer to 3K RPM), and even the journey to that seems faster. It no longer feels stock when flooring it from lower RPM to max boost point, and even normal driving feels faster without being over the top. If you're thinking about getting a tune, go with Jerry and EFILive tune. He's a meticulous, helpful, knowledgeable guy and got my car how I wanted it.
