Doing a lot of long distance driving, I find that having aim-able map lights to be very important along with extra storage space.
I found a family donor from a Chevy S10/Blazer.
There is plenty of space above the head liner to possibly fit a double din stereo mounted at an angle. If I can find an Android capable head unit that will run Torque Pro I will consider it. Or possibly mounting a tablet up there instead of gauges.
This DIY will outline the basics of mounting the Console and figuring out the wires so the lights all work.
Front Mounting Bracket
Rear Mounting Bracket (uses long zip ties for now)
Lights appear to be under powered. Also the stock wires are much smaller than the ones for the console. I'm worried if I try to run all 4 lights at once. I will need to swap the wires or buy LED "T10 194" Style bulbs.
I wired the courtesy light to the on-w/door open. Sonic (Black/Grey) Console (Black/Orange)
The 4 map lights are wired to the always on switchable power. Sonic (Black/Color w/Stripe) Console (Red/Purple, w/stripe)
2001 Chevy Blazer Overhead Console
Aim-able map lights x4
Storage bins x3
Room for Scan Gauge install, in place of the Blazer's display.
