From the years that I have spent tuning 4 cylinder cars, I have come to the conclusion that I prefer the stock air box. But found the problem to be in the piping - its too restrictive. So here is my rendition of an "intake".
stock air box
Parts:
3" - 3" coupler
3" - 2.5" 90 degree coupler
3" OD 45 degree aluminum intercooler piping (i cut about 2 inches off both sides so it would fit)
4 hose clamps
Total price: $52.00
Finished Product
I also yanked the snorkel but left the rectangular (adapter?) that goes from the bottom of the SAB to the fender well.
I definitely notice a faster spool = quicker bottom end.
