Default Led Headlight/fog light bulbs

finding conflicting information and just want to clear it up

2012 Sonic HB LTZ got auto lights set to turn on all time(covered sensor so no worry about DRL)

what I can't seem to find as a definite answer is if it needs canbus decoder for the 2012 otherwise with drl kinda bypassed as I did by fooling the sensor wife's been in 3 accidents at night (one being wildlife) so I don't care about a few bucks it will cost me for the lights being on all the time..

I don't have fogs so I can't say if a decoder is needed but I do have led low and highs without them for about a year now and work great ( also a 2012 LT ). You can check my garage for what I used ( moving them to the other car and going to try a different set of lows and highs soon), the lows work good but my highs are a little weak.

I haven't been flashed at all by on coming traffic and on a few of the dark roads I go through I've spotted deer much sooner then I did with stock bulbs.

I'll post a link to the sets I am looking at to try.

Here are some pics with the low and high LEDs Im running.

First are the lows, second are the highs. Note, the phone camera made them whiter then they are. Also, you will see reflective surfaces from a long way off.

nice pics.. really shows a nice difference specially distance reflective..

thanks for the pics.... looks like imma go buy some led's tomorrow :O looking at putco's since they have a bendable heatsink rather then a fan or loops.. and fit inside nicely (did in my beetle anyway) with h1's and never had an issue ..

There's no special can-bus needed in the sonic, it doesn't have bulb out detection. I have simple LEDs in the low beams, they run all the time due to the DRLs but they don't flicker or do anything stupid so I've left them like that. Gonna be putting fogs in the car soon with matching LEDs, but I need to get the rear quarter panel/bumper fixed from the truck that clipped it before I do much else.
