Anybody replaced dot3 fluid in their sonic with dot4 or dot5 like motul 660? I want to "tour" my car on a nearby 2.8 mile road course and track ppl said dot3 can boil out. This track hard on brakes.
Dot4 is fine, but DO NOT use dot5. The seals in the braking system are not designed for it. It will also ruin your ABS pump. We used to be able to get ATE Super Blue, but it was finally outlawed here because it's not amber in color. ATE does make an amber version of it though, but I can't remember what it's called. Dot4 made a huge difference for me when playing on mountain roads. It will be all you need. BTW, not all dot4 is created equal, so do your homework. New and old boiling point are the 2 biggest things you want to look for. I found that ATE had the best "old" boiling point, so therefore better for street cars. The other stuff is for people who are changing their brake fluid after every race.
