A/C not working puddle on passanger floor

a/c drain is plugged. Don't know the exact location on our cars, but somewhere low on the firewall, passenger side there should be a small rubber elbow. That's the drain.

That doesn't explain why the "A/C not working".
The drain can be completely plugged and the A/C will keep chugging away.

What kind of puddle is it, just water? Did it rain recently? My car used to leak there if it downpoured and was parked with the passenger side slightly uphill from the drivers side, very slight.

i will check it out yah a/c does not work only blowing hot ass air when i turn the knob the rpms arnt even changing like it use too and i dont hear anything engaging.

Water fill up around the evaporator, so air is not going through it. Had 3 cars in the last 2 weeks with the same problem.

As far as the compressor not engaging, does it not engage at all after you start the car, or does it run for a little while then stop?

Once the evaporator freezes because of no air moving through it, then pressure builds up in the system and will disengage the compressor so it doesn't destroy itself. It will not keep "chugging away".

From the parts blowup, it looks like the drain tube connects to the bottom of the evaporator case in the cabin, so you may have to drain it from there. Also there is an evaporator temperature sensor in the side of the case that can shut down the a/c if it detects to high or low of a temperature at the evaporator. If that got waterlogged, that could cause your issue.

yah it doesnt engage at all is there anyway you can take a picture of the piece i need to drain

A/C & HEATER MODULE ASM. Fits: Chevrolet Sonic | Tonkin Online Parts

Not a great reference, but its on the bottom of #13. Basically, look in the passenger footwell area, remove the panel from the side of the center console, and you will see an "S" shaped rubber hose coming off of the bottom of the hvac box going to a fitting in the floor.
