Default Windshield Wiper arm replacement?

I have a 2012 Sonic hatchback. I have had the car about 6-7 months now and I just put on my third drivers side windshield wiper blade. I replaced them after I got it, and about a month ago I went to pull it away from the windshield to clear snow only to have it "pop" off and break the tab. It held in the mount so I ran it a few weeks but was afraid it would fall off so I replaced it less than two weeks ago. This morning I went to clear off my windshield (had salt buildup, the car had been running over 40 min) at 60 mph and it bounced on the windshield then popped off and went flying. Thankfully it didn't scratch or crack my windshield. However I hate having to fork out $22-25 a piece for a wiper blade.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Has anyone found a wiper arm from another model that uses a different style mount that works on our cars?

Advance Auto was having a buy one get one 50% off so I bought two driver side wipers.

thanks,

You might only have to match the length of the wiper arms. I was actually thinking of replacing mine this spring for the reason of our stupid connecting system.

Maybe a junk yard trip to grab a few off other makes....

I had a funny feeling someone would move this post but this question isn't exactly a Maintenance and care issue as more of a modification request.

I am curious if a set off a Chevy Cruze will work. They show different part numbers for the wipers but getting a junk yard to let me "look" is difficult. Anyone here also got a Cruze and can post some pics of the wiper arms and the lengths?

Im interested in changing my arms so I can have a more even length blades on each. Mostly just to better remove water when the blades are coming back.

I have a hard time finding blades that will even fit on mine.
where does eveyone get theirs from? I've heard the only place to get them is the dealership... not really wanting to pay an arm and a leg just for some blades.
Or has anyone changed the arms?
For me changing the arms would make it so much easier.

I now see why the previous owner left a huge black line across the windshield.

Trico, buy online or at a reputable automotive supply store. The NEOFORM is the OEM for the front. The exact fit 10E is for the rear if you have a hatchback. You can use a 12E for the rear hatch for more sweep coverage. It fit's just fine.

Thanks for that info! I was wondering if a bit larger blade would fit the rear.

Does the 12-e mount exactly the same as the stock 10-e size? The 10-e picture looks more OEM.

Same concern at first. Yes it snaps right in. The 12E looks different because it's longer. I don't know why GM didn't use the 12E in the first place. You'll notice a difference when you look in the mirror while driving how much more you can see out when it's raining or snow covered window.
