I was placing an order for more Garrett intercoolers yesterday and my distributor notified me that the core I use in the Sonic kits has gone up $60!!
I'm not sure what to do at this point. In my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find a better intercooler core, but it's either raise the pricing or find a replacement core.
I do have another company I've used over the years when the budget won't allow for a Garrett intercooler, and I've had great success with them. I've never compared them back to back with a Garrett of the same size/flow, so I can't offer any real data to support whether or not they stack up well against the Garrett. I will say, I've NEVER had a car make less than expected power using one of their cores or intercooler assemblies. Often they make more. These are less expensive cores, however since they do not offer and exact replacement for what I'm currently using, parts of the kit will have to be redesigned, and I have no idea what that will do to the cost overall. Potentially the money saved on the core would be offset by the expense of redesigning tubes/mounts/routing.
What are your opinions on this? Since I'm building these for you guys, it seems like you need to be included in the decision making process.
