Hey all,
I wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased a 2014 Sonic LTZ Hatch, turbo and six speed. I got it after eyeballing them for a few years when my 2012 Yaris got totaled out in a rear-end collision. No injuries, but it was a good reason to upgrade.
Since buying it last week I have already started modding it (I am a chronic modder). I have a MPFab intake in the mail, as well as a Curt hitch mount, Yakima TwoTimer hitch rack (I own 4, going on 5 bikes), and clips to attack my Yakima Q-Tower roof rack. Next up will be a short shift kit, Forge BOV, and tune.
I am also going to sound deaden the hatch with some deadener I have left over from my Yaris, and machine the shift lever to sit an inch or two lower, accept a m12x1.5 threaded knob, and delete the reverse lockout. Hopefully once I can find some time this weekend.
In the past I have owned a relatively wide range of cars that I all modified in some way, and I am excited to add this to the list. I am also super impressed with the aftermarket so far, feeling almost as big as the Honda aftermarket.
Here is a list of my previous rides, in order from most recent:
2012 Yaris Base - 4cyl, 5MT, naturally aspirated
2007 KLX250S (DIY supermoto conversion) - 1cyl, 6 speed sequential, naturally aspirated
2006 Mini Cooper S - 4cyl, 6MT, roots supercharged
1996 Pathfinder - 6cyl, Autotragic, naturally aspirated
1991 BMW K100RS, 4cyl, 5 speed sequential, naturally aspirated
1995 Honda Del Sol Si - 4cyl, 5MT, DIY turbocharged and tuned
1993 Mazda MX-3 - 4cyl, 5MT, naturally aspirated
1999 Dodge Neon - 4cyl, Autotragic, naturally aspirated
1997 Chevy S10 - 4cyl, 5MT, naturally aspirated
1989 Subaru RX-Turbo - 4cyl, 5MT (+low range), non-intercooled turbo
1986 Jaguar XJS - 12cyl, Autotragic, naturally aspirated
1981 Buick Regal - 6cyl, Autotragic, naturally aspirated
Nice to meet you all, I look forward to discovering a new car community!
