Im looking for an answer to my question before i visit the dealership. My 2012 sonic will show a code 84 for an issue with the pedal of my car. it has happened twice this winter both times it was very cold. The first time was around Christmas. (I live in TX) We cleaned the throttle and the air mas sensor and the issue was resolved. It started up again last week. My repair man noticed that during both visits he had to add coolant to my car. After looking online I found where there was a "Special Warranty" 14371A " If this condition is not corrected, the “Service Engine” indicator light may come on, an “Engine Hot, AC Off” message may appear, a chime may
sound, and the engine power may be reduced."
Two of which are happening to my car.
I called GM and asked about recalls and she said no my VIN # did not show any, So I asked her about the special warranty for the water pump . She placed me on hold and came back and said Yes my VIN #was on the list. I never received a notice about this matter.
I've read post where they have talked about this pedal and it has a flap that opens and closes. Since Im not familiar with cars. is it possible that because I park on an slope in my driveway, that the moisture is settling in the pedal area freezing it up causing it to not run properly. After I drive it for 30 minutes this issue always goes away.
