Missouri B-Spec Rally Car

Hi guys! I'm a new sonic owner in central MO. Same place as KevJam. I just bought my sonic over the weekend, driving over 500 miles to get it... in a Jeep... and I'm loving the thing so far.

Anyways about the car. It's a 2012 1.4T LT model in a 6-speed manual. Summit White.

I've been rally racing a few years now in a ford festiva, (Pictured Below) and I thought it was time for an upgrade. Plans are to turn this Sonic LT into a Rally-America sanctioned B-Spec class Rally Car. It's going to take some time. Hopefully I can expedite the process with the help of some local dealerships and such but I'm not counting on it.

I've been in contact with Mr. Piloto, I saw he is also selling some pieces that may be useful on his website. I'm picking through the forums now on what to get. If you're curious how much it would cost to do something like this, or how much it is to fully spec your own car out, I'm generating a google spreadsheet of values now with links to where you can buy items. it can be viewed here.

Like I said, it may be a slow journey, but I'm hoping I can get this done in a year or so. Enough to make the 2017 100AW.

Right now, I am doing co-driving for an older 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer in the Canadian rally series (OPRC). It is basically a stock car and engine but the interior was gutted out so it no longer fits in the production car category. We can answer lots of questions when it comes to getting a rally car that works on the lowest possible budget.

Here's a video (but not me in it) of the car hitting a tree! Kept going and got first in the 2wd category!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the 1.4 not allowed in Bspec due to the whole turbo thing ? Thought the 1.8 was the only one allowed to run in Bspec

I'm not familiar with the rally America rules on Bspec.

Now you've got me curious though, as the turbo models are allowed in the 2014-2016 sonic, not the 2012. The 2012-2016 NA is allowed though, are there any major differences in the years I'm not seeing?

Welcome to SOF!
As far as I know, the drivetrain on all years 1.4 turbo are identical with the only difference being a stronger clutch on the 6spd manual from 2014 onward.

Looks like we're all good to go...

For any others interested, within the Rally America sanctioning body, they will allow back to 2012 1.4Ts in B-spec classes

That's actually not to bad for a full cage. I paid $1400 for just the main hoop and supports.
