Default Clutch is gone for a '12

New member here!

Got my '12 1.4 LT sedan last fall for long commute. Got it when it was just under ~45K miles and have put 12K on it so far (don't drive it much in the winter).

I have been loving every bit of it until yesterday AM on my way into work. I burned out my clutch while getting onto the highway. The estimate is about $1K to fix.

What stinks is that the power train warranty just bearly expired per its initial title date. Is it typical for its clutch to die after 57K? I actually felt a bit of slipping (from 2nd or 3rd gear) 2 to 3 months back. But, it was very slight and it was a one-time thing so I wasn't sure if it was something I did. I wish I had taken it in then.

Drove my 2012 1.8 5spd for just under 3 years and 115k miles. HARD miles driving like an ******* and my clutch was as good as day I bought it.

is that a dealer estimate? I can't imagine it's THAT much work to get the tranny out...

A local garage that we normally use. These guys are decent although, judged from the past, not entirely cheap but not the most expensive either. The thing is the car was already towed there.
