I bought a new 2017 Sonic Premier RS Sedan, Cajun Red Tintcoat on November 18. I really love this car! It's a different experience for me: in 44 years of car ownership, I've never owned a 4-door sedan. In fact, I've been driving pickup trucks for the past 30 years. And I'd NEVER heard of the Chevrolet Sonic before last May.
How did this happen?
A couple of years ago, I started renting cars for my trips to visit family in New Jersey because my 2010 Chevy Colorado gets atrocious mileage, even on the highway. I always wanted hatchbacks: first it was a Nissan Versa Note (I'd never heard of that), then a Hyundai Veloster (never heard of that either!). Last May, Enterprise didn't have any hatchbacks, so they stuck me in this 4-door thing called a Chevrolet Sonic.
Well, I loved the Sonic. It was better than either the Versa or the Veloster. Comfortable, great gas mileage, incredible amount of room (both passenger and cargo), and at my advanced age I began to understand why Grandpa likes 4-door sedans. So, with a full 7-year $3,500 accumulation of GM Mastercard earnings, I took a look at Chevrolet dot com in November and with the "shop-click-drive" feature I realized that they were practically giving the things away and I located a great 2017 at a dealer 45 miles away.
One trip to the dealer, one test drive, and I was a Sonic owner!
