My dad bought it for me as my first car. I really liked that car but after only a few days my dad figured that an off center steering wheel and a dripping oil pan were too much work, so he traded it in for...

2000 Escort ZX2
The car that made me hate cars. I learned how to drive in it, passed my test in it, and used it as my sole transportation for the past six years. It went through five or so transmissions with problems ranging from sticking in gear, failing to go into gear from a stop, and my brother said he had it shift into reverse while he was going down the road.

One of my first times out in it I discovered that the rear drums were faulty and they locked hard on a stop and sent me sideways through a busy intersection. The front weren't much better, and together they were the bane of my driving career. All of the Ford dealers around here could never get them working right.

Other than those things, the whole car felt underpowered, at any speed over 50 it felt very jittery and any breeze on the highway made me feel like it would flip. Even at it's best the transmission remained iffy and indecisive. The legroom sucked. The swaybar links broke every few months. Right after I sold it the exhaust fell off. No ABS or traction control made winter fun, but in the end I guess I'm a better driver for that.

The car only had 55,000 miles on her when I got it and 75,000 when I sold it earlier this year but it drove like it had several times that. Getting rid of that for this car is one of the better decisions I've made.
