Need help!

Plans for my 2013 RS are in motion. I am working on aesthetics first then going to power mods.

I have done the tint and the custom plate.

To do:
1. Buy cross bars for the roof to mount a basket (I got the basket for free, Thule) I was looking at thules website and their cross bars (with universal feet) are like $450, does anyone know where I can get some for cheaper or something better?

2. I have found a site where you can get 3- 42in light bars for $205 and I want to mount them directly to the basket instead of drilling into the car. Should I go with 30in or 40in? I did see the thread about the one light bar on a ski rack.

3. LED conversion, saw the thread, will be doing more research.

4. Blacking out the bow tie, do you recommend Plasti dip spray or ?

5. I was considering weather techs but it doesn't snow or rain where I live so I think I will keep the embroidered RS mats.

If anyone has tried these things or is considering these things and has an opinion on any of them please reply. I am super excited to own my RS.

Meant to post earlier. Love your RS opcorn: custom plate is awesome. Had me stumped for a bit. Not a chemist. I carbon fibered my bowties and rear trim. The dealership had already put stripes on my sonic before i purchased it. Subtle but effective. I'm big into decals so check my gallery/album to see what may interest you.

I just installed the Rhino Rack vortex racks and love them. I had Thule square bars on a car a long time ago, and although expensive they lasted forever. Had for 15 years before rollover crashing and the roof was the only panel not dented lol. I was a little hesitant to buy this less known brand but their quality is just as good. I did spend the extra cash on the vortex ‘aero style’ bars and am extremely glad I did. Compared to the Thule square bars, they are WAY quieter. I don’t need a fairing which opened up the possibility of attaching a light bar directly to the racks. Rhino-racks makes light bar mounts which can attach directly to the t-slots on the top or bottom of the crossbar. I like the idea of attaching to the bottom so it doesn’t interfere with installing/uninstalling other mounts like bike and snowboard carriers. I ordered the Rough Country 30” single row led bar which should be pretty streamline and tuck right between. I would think this would be a good option for a cargo basket install. I plan to install this weekend and will post pics. Weather tech mats are the sh*t!!! I wouldn’t have a vehicle without them. They are well worth the expense. Got ‘em in every vehicle in the driveway. Makes cleaning SO much easier too IMO. Spray them off or wipe down vs chasing those hopping sand pieces with the vacuum haha.

Haha. I know how ya feel! I avidly research before I commit, and that rabbit hole can run DEEP! I have only had the car a short while and this site has helped tremendously. Most google searches about the car usually eventually wind up here as well. I’m happy to return the help I’ve received. I’ll send you some pics of the light install and rack pics once I get em installed this weekend. Can also send some of the mats. They fit like a glove! Just my 2 cents.
