1.4t Camshaft cover bolt thread specs

Hey All,

I accidentally stripped one of the Camshaft/valve cover bolts when I swapped on a new cover. I can’t for the life of me find the thread size/pitch. I need to helicoil the existing hole.

Any help is greatly appreciated

The thread size is M6x1.0 hope that helps.

Just incase you need this information to install the valve cover. I always stress using a good quality torque wrench and follow the sequence. I'm not saying you did not properly tighten the bolts but here is useful information for all.

I have that. And I tightened them in the correct sequence but I tried dialing back my ft/lb wrench to equal 70in/lbs so that was a recipe for disaster. Everything has been mitigated and correct tools for repair have been purchased.

Edit: I have the 1.8 L non flex fuel engine, if that makes any difference.

Add me to the list of people that snapped off one of the bolts during valve cover gasket replacement.

I want to make sure I have a sound plan to fix the problem. I'm going to get a helicoil kit with the m6-1.0 thread. I have not been able to find the exact GM Bolt so I was just going to use an M6-1.0 x 30 mm from Home Depot or somewhere. Is that the correct length? Having trouble finding that spec also.
