So, Friday evening the AC quit cooling as my spouse was coming home from work, checked fuses and relays, all seemed ok. Started to town to do some errands, at about 4 miles away, stabilitrak light came on, car was jerking as if brakes were being applied. Pulled over, light went off, continued to town. About ten miles later, AC stopped cooling, engine started running rough, lasted maybe 30 seconds or so. Continued driving, check engine light came on. Parked and ran one errand. Started up, check engine light still on, started back home, ran rough again, filled with gas, checked gas cap. Check engine light still on. Drove to dealership Saturday morning(25 miles) check engine light still on, ran rough twice, stabilitrak light came on, tire (pressure?) light came on, stabilitrak light went off, but check tire light remained on as did check engine light.
Service manager says there is coolant in the spark plugs! Almost no coolant in the coolant reservoir, may not be fixed until Monday. No loaner, and since I don't live in town, dealership can't give me a ride home?
Service manager tells me its running on two cylinders, head is "seeping" fluid. Will need to order head which won't be in for a week or so. Still no loaner!
Apparently tech suggested putting "boot" on spark plugs, service manager says will be safe to drive until they can get part in. I tell service manager that my spouse drives this vehicle 76 miles round trip to work and is currently working 7 days a week, service manager assures me that this will work and that this will cause no further damage, "damage has already been done".
I leave the dealership at 11:20, car is running ok, no warning lights come on. I get home safely.
Sunday morning spouse gets in and starts to work, but gets less than two miles before car starts running very rough, check engine light comes on, turns around, comes home and takes my truck to work.
Its now Monday, about 2:30 pm. I am waiting on a wrecker. Service manager said wrecker would be here before noon!
Has anyone got any advice? This car has never indicated that it was overheating and the very first problem was the AC not cooling on Friday evening, which the service manager said is caused by the engine "running hot". The service manager said the tech found no cracks in the head, and no gasket problems. I was at the dealership 3 hours and 20 minutes. Could they have pulled the head and replaced it in that amount of time?
