2016 Chevy Sonic Cruise Control HELP!!

Hey everybody, newbie here. Just purchased my first Chevy Sonic as a work car. I was surprised at how roomy it actually is expecially for somebody my size. (5'11 320 pound) well I have done a lot of reading on this forum about the cruise control. I see that the 2012 looks to be the bastard year. well mine is a 2017 LS I have the steering wheel controls for the radio but no cruise control. I have seen were some people have been able to buy a new steering wheel bearing the cruise control and radio functions and just simply plug in their stock air bag and it work except for the little green light on the dash. (I have seen this on the 2013-2014 models) my question is...Is there any truth to this? has anybody got it done? please help! my eyes are killing me from reading lol

I've got a 2015 LS, I've been thinking of doing the same thing. My understanding is you replace the steering wheel then the computer needs to be "flashed" to do the Cruise Control. This is usually done at the dealer, but if you have the equipment I suppose you can do it as well. I've seen it listed at around $340 option at the Chevy Accessories web site. Not sure if this includes the "flashing".

It needs to be flashed, and for that you need the code that comes with the gm kit (95142787)

Essentially its a ~$250 code, and a $50 wheel

Add an hour of labor to Install/Program

Hey I dropped my sonic off at the dealer this morning...it's going to be $383 total. That's the wheel ($340) labor to install and program (.6 Hours labor)

About a year ago I got a $100 Parts/Service coupon from Chevy...I shoulda done it then! Oh well, let us know how it works out. And a photo! I haven't seen a 2017 LS around...

(I spiffed up my LS by going to a junkyard and picking up some nice OEM Sonic 15" alum wheels for around $400. I then put snow tires on the original steelies and the Hankooks on the aluminums.)
