2017 rs headlights swap to led

I've been under the hood a few times looking at the headlight housing. With the way the headlight has a cap over the bulb I'm concerned with the LED bulbs and the pig tails. Has anyone tried to switch their headlights to LED and are there any issues with getting the LED bulb to fit in the headlight housing?

You're going to have a hard time cooling the LEDs with the goofy housings we have. I went HID for that reason. DDM Tuning makes good kits!

I used thes dust covers available from many vendors. Need to be the 85mm size.

All wiring and driver block fit neatly inside and extra room for all and volume for cooling room for the LED fan.

I am using both of these brand LEDs in two different cars.

Both work in the Sonix but this first one has a bit better light pattern I think.

Well damn. If they make those for the high-beams, I'm going to convert the highs to LED.

EDIT: There isn't a "lip" for a cup like above to attach to. It's intersected by the low-beam housing that sticks farther back.

These rubber dust cover extensions just fit over the outside lip of the headlight housing and fit tightly around it. They come in different sizes and 85mm is the right size for Sonic.
Take a close look at the picture and you can see how it fit oover the complete outside edge of the headlight housing.

Well damn. If they make those for the high-beams, I'm going to convert the highs to LED.

Yeah, the High Beam light is different. I'm thinking one way would be to get a smaller rubber dust cover (55mm?) and cut a hole into the stock dust cover and pop it into that hole. Maybe like something below or one of the others at the Amazon links.

Um, yeah, lots of LED headlights will work.


The OP is asking if the light, it's driver block, connectors and wiring will fit under the stock dust cover you had to remove in order to install the LED bulb.

Or did you remove that twist off dust cover and trash it?

you just take the tube out, there is space to work, i know **** all about cars and i switched to leds with no issues, i’ll try and find that link for you

No issues installing. And do not have to remove the headlight housing.

The long neck on the washer tank comes off easily with a 1/4 turn CCW and installs back in easily. With that out of the way plenty of room to get the original bulbs out and new LED installed.

Hope bulb is twist lock and not that stupid wire clip like my old Mazda h11 lights

Next mission will be the fog lights. Gotta get it on the lift to see how to get to them

No wire clips. The H11 bulb is a "twist lock" with three "tabs" and has a silicone gasket/washer to provide a seal and some tension to hold the LED in place.

To make it easier installing, take note of the halogen bulb tab position (one tab is a bit wider) when you remove them so that you can position the LED tabs similarly when inserting into the tab slots in the light housing.

The H11 bulbs are easily removed by turning about 1/4 turn CCW also.

If you are not in Canada, order off Amazon U.S.

For fog lights. I recommend the Yellow/God color if you want to really use them as fog lights. The light does not scatter like with white LEDs.

I've been looking at auxbeam leds. They have a sales right now and have the fog lights too. I'm gonna use white for just driving lights. I don't really use them as fog lighta

There's just so many choices. I've read good on the astar that was posted.

I can't believe there's room for the driver and that plug extension in our housing without them getting too hot in there
