Any Way to Improve Brake Pedal Feel?

I noticed pretty much as soon as I got my car that the pedal is just waaaaaay to spongy. The fluid levels were fine in the master cylinder, and I am 90% sure the pads have plenty of life, but it still feels like the brakes dont actually engage until the pedal is already like halfway down. I was just wondering if there is any way to make it so it doesn't engage way too late. Apologies in advance if there is already a thread exactly like this or something, I searched for a solid 20 minutes and didn't find much that matched what I'm feeling.

You probably need to bleed the brakes. Any air in the system will cause a sponge feel to the peddle.

I agree with the brake bleeding, but also if it has rear drum brakes, the shoes must be in proper adjustment; maybe the self adjusting mechanism isn't working properly. Another cause could be a defective master cylinder that leaks internally.

One of the three issues I mentioned will be your problem; now to find which it is.

Another area to look at is vacuum boost issues.
