Anyone's sonic absolutely horrible in the snow?

My mother also hates her tires in the snow. (2012 LTZ) She was looking into getting snow tires with winter rims. But then after reading reviews I think she is going to just pick up a set of continental extremecontact DWS.

My Sonic does very well in the snow, although I suspect that it would not do so in the stock Han****s. I note everyone else in this thread is suggesting tires as well. Han****s were slippery in merely wet weather this fall, I was out of them well before getting to snow or ice conditions.
Other helpful hints are to try turning off TC and maybe SC and if you're really hardcore, pulling the ABS plug. After driving a while though I got used to the Sonic version of ABS and I no longer feel like it's actively trying to kill me... I just turn off TC and I'm good to go.

For the little time I drove it in the snow it did really well, didn't even slide once.
Picked up my Sonic monday night, tuesday we got 7" in NW Indiana.
Neighbor plowed my driveway, which is on a significant grade - I had a hell of a time getting up the driveway into garage, even with compressed snow.
Took 4 tries, at one point car slid and ended up on an angle. It was not fun.

It's pretty bad on the stock tires. I haven't had any trouble that wasn't self-inflicted as long as I drove carefully. I came within inches of being rear-ended after coming to a long gentle stop because of an accident ahead. The car behind me was apparently paying no attention whatsoever. The only real trouble I've encountered was getting going from a stop from grades as small as 1%.

I have a 2012 LTZ and Blizzak snows were the best choice I ever made! I miss my wheels but I live in upstate NY..Having a storm right now actually. Lol. Tire Rack is awesome!

Snow? 65F and sunny today. Hope I never have to find out how my car does in 6" + snow.
I would imagine the light weight of the 1.4L engine over the front end doesn't help much.

Sonic itself wouldn't handle much different in the snow as compared to other vehicles of the same size, weight, wheelbase, drive wheels, etc. The only difference in snow handling between the Sonic, Fit, Fiesta and others in this class is the tires.
I guess my point is that the question shouldn't be about how the Sonic handles in the snow, but rather how the stock tires on the Sonic handle in the snow.
