Automatic windows

Hey guys, I bought my sonic bought in April and I just started having trouble with my automatic windows.

I was going through a drive thru this morning and while I was driving away I tried putting my window up. It got 3/4 of the way up and just stopped and headed back down. It made it 1/4 of the way down and stopped again and stayed where it was. Anyone else have this problem?

I think it's designed to go back down when it detects a resistance to its movement.

Have you tried to go up & down several times in a row? I know on my old Si, I had to do that after reconnecting the battery for what not to make it redo the auto up & down function...

No noises? Track looks clear?

i took my sonic in once for this, it also sounded pretty rough, all they did was lube the window channel.that was GM's certifed fix, but 30,000 miles later i have had 0 problems with it.

Natesriv- I put it up and down about a dozen times. The first half stopped before the top. The second half worked perfectly fine. There was no noise or any out of the ordinary, aside from the window stopping and going back down. Thank you

I just checked it on my lunch and my window seems to be working fine but does have a scratch in the window. Must be something in the door panel.

I've thought about it myself, but it's not in my high priority list. I love the auto up especially. My wife's Scion has auto down, but not up.

I also like the control. I hit the auto and then press again to stop it at the desired position. I used to find it hard to press lightly enough for it not to take over into auto. But now I just go straight for auto and click again to stop..... Much better way to operate in my opinion.

My old CTS had auto down on all windows but auto up only fronts, which I loved when getting out of the car.

I found a while back an OBDII plug that would allow you to auto up and down all 4 from your keyfob but it was listed for a Cruze and I never got any feedback as to if it would work on a Sonic. Anyone know anything about these???

There definitely are aftermarket gadgets that will allow you to do all kinds of cool window functions, but I don't want an additional fob on my key ring.

The most straight forward solution would be to make a mutant window switch panel for the drivers side in which you graft in four auto up/down switches.

No the link I posted above is for an OBDII plug that allows you to use your factory keyfob by pressing lock twice to roll up or pressing unlock 3 times to roll down, or any variation of those. No extra part to carry around but it does mean you will not be able to plug in an Ultragauge and this at the same time.

And I looked into doing the Franken switch on another car I had but found out that the driver door control is one piece not separate switches to be able to pop out. So I agree the only solution would be to find another Chevy with a single auto up down and try to mount 4 different ones in there. Would be nice but not practical for what it may cost.

I bought the obdII adaptor off of amazon and tried it on my 12 ltz hatch NO GO something is diff between are cars and the cruze some subtle programing diff. . I'm only out 20 bucks so no big deal. If somebody wants it for there cruze 15 plus ship and its yours

Damn :sadbanana:.....I figured it wouldn't work but I had to hear it from a member to be sure. Oh well guess i'll just keep my Ultragauge plugged into my OBDII port.

Yeah like I said it was only 20 bucks. My cts has front express windows but the function is built into the bcm NOT the switches. Some older gm cars had a module in the door that plugged in between the window harness that controlled the driver express windows if you could find the module form that it would prob. work. By the way on the sonic it is also controlled by the bcm not the switches
