BAFX OBD2 Connection Issues

I just bought a sonic the other day and tried to put my BAFX OBD2 with TorquePro app to monitor things like boost and coolant temp. A little background: the car is a 2012 Sonic 1.4L Turbo w/ 6 speed manual with 67k miles. The problem I am getting is that when I plug in the BAFX, the car loses electronics. I noticed that when I plugged it in while running, my seatbelt light came on and was dinging, power steering turned off, AC turned off, tach went to zero (engine stayed on), ABS light came on, and the check engine light turned on. As soon as i unplugged the BAFX, everything went out and returned to normal, but the check engine light stayed on. When I plugged in the car while not running, the same thing happened and the car would not start. I have used this BAFX adapter on several different cars without issue over the years. Does anyone have any insight as to what is causing this issue and possibly how to resolve it? TIA

I used mine on my new 2016 without issues. Did you happen to find issues with the OBD II Port?

I had a F Series not work because it had a blown fuse for 12 V Outlet which also supplied power to the OBD II Port. But never other devices affected.

I have an older but identical BAFX that stopped linking with my phone, I need to retry as it has been awhile and might have been with old phone. I upgraded sometime this year to a Samsung S8+.

The BAFX has been a great device I used Torque extensively, but now use Car Gauge Pro.
