Happens alot,
I just went to auto zone and got 3 bolts and nuts to remount. Some people say get exhaust grade ones to hold up to heat. I just got regular ones. Size and thread doesnt matter just make sure the bolt fits through and has thread on other side to bite.
If they are pressed in like you say, beat them out with a hammer and punch. 1 good shot with a 24oz+ hammer should do the trick. I haven't touched mine so I'm not sure how they are mounted. If they are welded you will need to cut the weld using a die grinder or dremel.
I'm going to assume no one owns a press?
Out of 8 friends and family who are mechanics, none of us have a press at home. We do at our jobs. The OP asked a question a seasoned mechanic would have figured out on their own (OP don't take any offense, we all started somewhere). That tells me he probably doesn't have a press, or acces to one. Besides why waste time setting up the press to knock out 2 studs when a hammer can do he job in no time.
Wow snippy today!
Or, yesterday rather.
No. Not trying to be snippy. Sorry if it sounded that way. I was just trying to say most people don't have a press at home.
most people don't have a press at home.
Yeah, it only took me two good taps with a claw hammer on each stud. They break so easily, I'm 99% certain they're not meant to be reused. Go ahead and replace all 3 because the third one will probably fail on the road if you try to reuse it.
