has anyone tried or know how to bypass the push clutch on the car?
Meaning just put the key in and start it?

Buy an automatic.I had a vehicle almost run me over due to no clutch switch the mechanic next to me tryed starting the car outside of the vehical and it was in gear vehical lunged forward 4 cranks as he got pulled with it and let go of the key.It only takes 1 time to kill somebody and a life time to forget.
This seems like a risky proposition for you, bystanders as noted above, and especially the car (I'm thinking starter, flywheel, transmission). are you thinking of adding a remote start, or is there another reason? I'm sure the clutch safety switch could be bypassed (wired open) pretty easily, but would not consider it without at least a neutral safety switch of some kind to replace it. It is so easy to forget and leave the car in gear when you park it.

I seem to recall the story of a manual mustang. The owner installed a remote start and bypassed the clutch switch. He took it in for service and the dealer accidentally remote started his car. While he was in gear. Into a lake.
And before you say that's the dealer's fault and they should have paid for it; no, the dealer didn't pay a dime. It was the owner's fault because he improperly and unsafely installed a remote start.
BUT, yes. It is possible. I'm sure you can google it.

This is relevant to my interests. I hate the no-start clutch switch.
Any responsible car operator would reach in and verify neutral before turning the key. It makes wrenching on the car more convenient when you don't have to climb in every time you want to start it.
That being said..... Remote-start on a manual is like turning your car into a suicide bomber, and is probably a bad idea.

Does that mean that you're saying suicide bombers are not always a bad idea?
Anywayyy, just buy an automatic if you want remote start or to not have to deal with a clutch.

the sonic is my only vehicle that you have to push in the clutch. i'm used to pushing the clutch or making sure there in nuetral. what worries me is when others drive my vehicles.

I've only found being able to start my car without the clutch to be useful once. The slave cylinder on my old BMW went out so I couldn't use the clutch. Being able to start the car in gear got me home.
Other than that, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to have it. Its just second nature (to me anyways) to push the clutch in and hold the brake whenever I turn the key.

A properly designed remote start system will allow you to safely remote start a manual transmission vehicle. One or more already were on the market but I forget the manufacturer at this time. Aside from that, yes I wouldn't do it.
They required a specific sequence including the door, clutch switch, and parking brake as I recall to be carried out before it would allow starting.
I did install a remote start system in a guy's 5-spd Toyota pickup one time with a standard remote start system (he wouldn't spend money on a reputable one) against my advice and despite my warnings because he was the type who thought he knew more than others. Not wise.
That being said, all my manual cars always had a clutch switch, and kind of glad they did, considering those one or two times when I tried to do something dumb and didn't notice. The results would not have been great. Or when someone else who doesn't know what they're doing gets in your car!
Also, the clutch switch cancels cruise control when on.

I once got into a company fleet vehicle, a 80s Chrysler minivan with manual transmission (yea, they actually made those.) It didn't have the clutch switch. I turned the key and suddenly the car was driving into the side of a stone building. Nothing was hurt, but it was a shock and scared the c*** put of me. I told the story to my co-workers and they had similar experiences - one time they were on a cliff and started the car, only to have it start towards the edge. They stopped it in time, but wow, what a freaky safety thing to leave out.

Most Toyota trucks/suvswith manuals had a "clutch start cancel" button on the dash right by the door, was very nice in the winter to start the truck while cleaning the snow off it...
If the manufactures are willing to do it, I don't see a problem with it, as long as you are cognitive about what your doing

2. In the 'console' fuse box, there is no fuse where it says 'clutch switch'.
Can someone please explain this to me?
BTW, my car will not start without depressing the clutch (great idea!).

1. It's a switch wired in series with the starting circuit on manual transmission vehicles that only allows power to the starter if the clutch pedal is fully depressed
2. It is not an independently fused circuit.
Some of us,myself included, but NOT ALL OF US(please read entire thread), prefer to bypass this safety feature.
