Car running, locked, fob nor key will work.

Hi, I have a 2012 Chev Sonic. Love this vehicle! On a very cold morning recently, I went out and started the car, got the heater running, etc. and then took my dog for a walk while the car warmed up. When I returned, the car was locked. My husband tried his fob and the car would not respond. He tried his key and the doors would not unlock. He changed the battery in his fob and it still did not work. We ended up having to call CAA and have them basically break into the car. Has anyone had this happen? Do you know what could be the problem? I'm afraid to lock the car now. Thanks, in advance.

As far as the doors locking you need to go into your my link settings and turn on what is called doors anti lock out .

They have this off as a default settings I could explain it but I think on you tube there's a video on it like 5 min shorty , basically you go into my link settings go to vehicle settings then go to door locks , then go to the section that says anti lock out , you can choose what doors or all doors to keep from locking select ...ON then they will never lock on you again with the key on .

Although for your own safety if you were eating at a drive-thru or you park your car to sit and listen to the radio or whatever you're doing you will have to lock your car doors manually if you're sitting inside or somebody can just come up and open the door with you in the car.
