Hi Guys,
I just encountered this problem and thought this might be of use to someone. My car is/has been staying in accessory mode when I open the door and take the key out. I did some online research and couldn't find a definitive answer. Some posts led me in the right direction.
Since the dash lights go out when I remove the key, I don't think it's the ignition switch. I read that it is possible that the drivers door latch is faulty. I read it has the switch in it that turns off the RAP (Retained Accessories Power). My car will go out of accessory mode after 10 minutes and shut off completely.
So, before I go in for a repair, my thought was that since I always use my key fob to lock and unlock the doors, maybe if I manually pull up and down on the door lock knob manually and alternately open the inside door handle manually a few times manually, I may 'loosen things up' a bit and get the door sensor to work again. Surprisingly, this has lessened the amount of times the car stays in accessory mode. Most of the time now it shuts off as it should.
Anyone have any thoughts? Or a fix?
