Continuous power to 12 volt accessory

Hello all, great forum, just bought my first sonic 2 weeks ago. It is a 2017 RS hatchback, with the turbo


I have Searched, but have not found much info. I like To charge my phone when I am Camping and the car is off. It seems that the 12 volt and usb are only on when the car is running, or at least til the drivers door is opened...... seems odd, every car I have Bought, the 12 volt is energized all the time, til this one

Has anyone rewired their 12 volt port to be hot all the time? Did you use a new fuse, or is there something close to use?

I havent made any real changes to my car, but generally speaking you can get the cig lighter/12 volt kit from any auto store and just wire it directly to the fusebox. Use a separate fuse for the install.

This is the second thread you've asked this question. There are plenty of non switched continuous 12V lines coming out of the fuse box. Just get out your multimeter and test.

All good. You can use an add a fuse, and you'll need a way to step down the current down or convert it to AC depending on your application. I would suggest tapping into the cigarette fuse because it switches off with the car preventing unwanted battery drain.

That’s the thing, I have A switched cigarette lighter port. I want One hot all the time, so I can Charge the phone when I am Not driving the car

So leave the key in accessory mode.

There isn’t an ignition key on a 2017, plus, I don’t want To leave a key in an unattended car.....

Same here. I'd rather have a key. Too much technology today.
