I have a 2015 HB, with around 128k miles. When I make a hard left or right at a stop sign or very slowly, I hear creaking in the wheel, and I can feel the peddle slightly bouncing while I hear the creaking.
From what I read on the internet, seems to be a ball joint problem. And that seems to be what mechanics tell me every time I take it in for an oil change, or something else. So I always say yes, go ahead and fix it. I never really paid much attention to the receipts, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re replacing the same ball joint every time.
This seems to have started when someone backed into my car in a parking lot a couple years ago. The repair guy didn’t notice any internal damage and just replaced the bumper. A year and a half later, one of the shops I asked about this problem told me it looked like the car was in an accident at some point, but didn’t really say or do anything else about the noise.
After three times getting the ball joint fixed, it still makes this creaking noise. Is this just being misdiagnosed? What else can it be?
Here’s a video of the problem, you can hear it first around 5 seconds in, and I make a few more right turns in this - Video
I’ve been driving the car for a while with this noise. Doesn’t seem to affect anything, but I’m a little nervous taking it on road-trips or anywhere too far from home.
