Disabling XM?

My three month XM subscription has ended and I didn't renew (I have an iPhone full of music) also they were jerks when they cold called me and tried to get me to continue the service.

Is there anyway to disable XM so I don't have to hear the sample stations?

Pull a fuse, disconnect a wire, remove antenna?

Would prefer to keep it within warrantee, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sample stations? Do you mean Channel 1? If its automatically turning itselft to xm 1 on start up you need an update to the radio.

Yeah, Channel 1. I think it only happens when I turn on the car after playing music from my phone connected via Bluetooth.

Do updates require a dealership run? What's the latest update #?

I have no idea what the latest software # is. Sorry. Unfortunately the dealership is the only way to get the radio updated so far. What year is your sonic? When did you purchase it?

I would think a '14 wouldn't need the update. I had mine updated in 2-13 to solve that problem. You may want to check with the dealerships service department anyway. Ask if they can check for any technical service bullitins. The bullitin that updated mine was PI0914A but that also added bringgo and tunein.

Ughhhhh. Don't do it! Got off their list by calling them and complaining and telling them to remove my number from their list. They haven't called back since.

Turned on the car this morning to go to work and it turns out XM Channel 1 only comes on start up if I was listening to my iPhone connected via bluetooth when I turned the car off last. Anyway around that (other then having to change the input before I turn off the car everytime)?

Have you checked all of your presets to see if any xm channels are programmed? Scroll through all 6 pages (or however many pages you have) of presets and look. I know on my portable xm receiver, while n the subscription is up it will automatically go to xm1. I haven't had the sonic without a subscription so I don't know if it does that. Anyway, if it does, maybe removing any xm presets will solve the problem.

Got rid of the presets. Still flipped to XM Channel 1. Guess I'll have to call the dealership and see if they can do anything. I really don't like XM now. After a dozen renew letter and many cold calls and now this.

I don't think that you modify the source menu. AM => FM => XM => Bluetooth and back to AM. I'm assuming no USB, with USB it would be between XM and Bluetooth. You mentioned you were using Bluetooth when you turned the car off and when you first turn the car on there is no Bluetooth until the phone connects so it defaults to another source in this case XM. I'd be curious to know if it would default to USB if there where a USB stick with music in the car.

The radio switching to XM1 on start up isn't caused by XM its the radio. The renewal letters and calls, well.....:sadbanana:

I told off the callers a couple times, they always called me at work, so I would stop what I was doing (mechanic) to answer my phone, with a local number, only to find out they were trying to sell me XM. I tell them they didn't have a chance, I don't even drive the car, etc. I finally just told them "don't call me again" every time she said something, until they offered to put me on the don't call list. I haven't heard from them since, although I did get a letter today asking me to renew, first one in a long time.

altnation is the best but the only station i listen to. not worth the money to listen to one station that i have a majority of the music on my iPod.

I listen to my XM a lot, but notice that I only listen to a few stations. I've been thinking of cancelling it. It's only like $7 or 8 a month though.

I wish MyLink had an iPod interface like my old Pioneer radio.

How well does the USB thing work?

I listen to just a few XM stations but I listen to them a lot, I like that they come in clear and that I can travel all over the country and not have to be constantly searching out some local station that doesn't make my ears bleed. If I always stayed close to home I probably wouldn't like it quite as much. Anyway, for me it isn't the hundreds of stations, it's how well the three or four I am interested in come in.
