DISCLAIMER: This barely counts as DIY because it's the easiest thing ever. Just thought I'd share because it worked.
Order this:
Flexible Short Micro to USB Charger Data Cable for Android Phone | eBay
NOTE: I ordered on 12/24/16 and it just arrived today. Took like 5 weeks. If you don't want to wait that long, pay more.
Space it out with whatever. It ended up being spaced out about 3/4". I just used carboard and electrical tape (for now). If I really like it (which I think I will) I'll use some nylon spacers or make some insert thing and paint it. Or not. Whatever. Looks better than the damn cord I currently have flopping around. Or most of the bulky suction cup and vent attachments out there.
Test the fit. Add more spacing if needed.
Take some pictures. It's pretty clean, eh?
Drink some beer. You sure earned it! LOL
One more thing. It flops around a little when driving aggressively. This could be combated by securing the "spacer" area down to the console. Even a small strip of double sided tape would probably work and not be visible.
