I know this has been alluded to in other threads, but I ran into some snags so I figured I'd clear up any questions on doing this. I bought the Cruze wheel off ebay and it had some scratches on the plastic and has the incorrect cruise switch, so I had to swap the center plastic pieces. Disregard some steps if you're not doing that portion.
Tools:
Ratchet w/extensions
10mm socket
T30 Torx
T50 Torx
Small flat head screwdrivers
Small allen key or screwdriver
1. Remove the negative terminal from the battery (10mm).
2. Key on (to disable steering lock), then turn the wheel so it's upside down.
3. Insert allen key or screwdriver into the back of the steering wheel into the round hole, and then pry outwards along the slot. There are two holes like this, they release the air bag. Pull slightly on the airbag, but once you release both sides it should come loose.
4. Remove the 2 air bag connectors. Pry with a small screwdriver on the connectors (perpendicular to the air bag, not the yellow pieces with the two prongs on each side holding them on. Don't touch those), a small piece clicks up and they just pull off. Set the air bag aside.
5. Remove the T50 Torx bolt holding the wheel on. You might have to pull the key out to reenable the steering lock, but mine didn't give me any trouble. You can pull the wheel off now if you'd like. Pay attention to the marks on the column and the wheel. There's a notch on both so you can line it back up correctly.
6. Remove the 3 T30 Torx screws that hold the center metal bracket in place.
7. Remove the electrical connectors on the steering wheel switches and to the column.
8. Pull out the metal center bracket.
9. Stick your finger in the indentations on either side of the wheel by the switches and pull up on them. If doing the left side, stick your finger and and then pull up and to the right. (right side, up and to the left) The switches go in at an angle, that's why you need to pull in the opposite direction. If you just pull up on the plastic, your switches may come apart and you'll have a million little plastic pieces everywhere. This happened to me and it was a pain.
10. Once you remove the sides with the switches, keep pulling up on the gray center piece until it separates from the bottom of the wheel.
11. Now it's all apart, swap over your parts and put it back together.
Misc. Tips: It's hard to keep the clock spring in place, but don't worry about it too much. The connectors line it back up pretty well by themselves and there are notches on the wheel/column to align it. The air bag wires go through the same long rectangular hole as the other connector, not the smaller square hole.
