I installed an amateur radio mobile transceiver (Yaesu 2900R)in my car last Friday. While pushing the power wires through a new tiny hole in the existing generous firewall grommet, I got a little carried away in my frustration and managed to knock out of place the frame which somehow interacts with grommet, and it disassembled into its two pieces.
I spent a couple of days getting it reassembled into position around the wires (extremely difficult), and the grommet and the frame still aren't seated yet.
Is there some secret to installed the grommet frame and getting the grommet to go all of the way in without popping the frame back out?
I am very frustrated and irritated! What were they THINKING? Why couldn't the grommet just mate directly to the metal wall instead of having to introduce some new piece to it? Why would they DO THIS TO ME?? Why GM, WHY????
Any help, friendly suggestions, empathy, sympathy for me?
