IAT sensor location?

I have an ultragauge installed and one of the metrics I like to keep on screen is the intake air temperature. Does anyone know where this is measured from? I'm curious if it's before or after the intercooler....

I know a lot of cars bundle the IAT with the MAF unit but haven't taken the time to look under the hood and see if that's the case with our 1.4's.

The IAT is pre-turbo. There is another reading of IAT2 that comes post-intercooler.

The IAT2 is taken from the MAP sensor that is in the plastic elbow in the boost tubing. I'm not sure of the precise location of the IAT sensor but it might be part of the MAF.

Does anyone know off hand if IAT2 is available on the UG?

edit: looked on the UG page and it only lists one IAT gauge as being available... Now I guess the question is which IAT is the UG displaying?

edit2: dug a little bit deeper and it sounds like UG displays IAT1 and IAT2 isn't available -which is a shame. I'm curious what the efficiency on the stock IC looks like.

I have looked at the difference between the two on a 30C+ day. Keep in mind that when I did the log, it had already been up to operating temp then I parked and let it sit for about 45mins. This allowed the radiator to heat up my intercooler.

At the start of my log, the iat2 was much higher than iat1 but after I started driving around it started to drop significantly. It seemed to be well more than adequate for the Trifecta Tune.

I have the RS model that has a oem divertor to direct air into the intercooler so I'm not sure how much difference it makes over the other models.

I'll look at the logs again and see if I can get you some screenshots to show you.

I also looked at a more recent log where the iat2 was actually the same as the iat1 But I was also driving at over 130km/hr

anyone know if the RS intercooler diverter will fit the non RS models?

The divertor that fits the others will not fit the RS as the end tanks are a bit different

I knew this about the aftermarket unit, but I'm wondering if the OEM RS diverter will fit the non RS... perhaps this is a subject for another thread.

DDM Intercooler Diverter does not fit 13 RS
This thread has pictures with both the DDM one and the RS one. I'm sure it can be made to fit but you need to make a mount for it.

It is likely cheaper to get the DDM one than to buy the RS one.
