Idle vibration

After warm up: Start hatch, put in drive and there is a slight vibration [tach reads 700 instead of 600 rpm @ idle] put back in netural and the vibration disappears. Has A/T... am thinking there is something getting loose in the engine bay! Any one else have this problem with there ride???? and the dealer fixed it...or they found out the problem....Thnks.

I've had the same problem since I bought my car back in Oct of 2011. Currently my cars in the shop for a handful of small things before warranty's up. I think they said they couldn't find the source of the sound so... however i was suppose to have the car last sat but I'm still rolling around in a free rental so maby they found something.


I don't want to call them again. I don't want them to rush anything.

Check your engine mounts. Does it go away/get better in park.

A slight vibration with automatics(in drive but vehicle is stationary) is not really a new thing. Both of my Hondas do it(I know they are not a sonic but they a both 4 cylinder autos).

If it goes away when you click it to natural, I would not really worry to much about it, but I would inform your dealer Incase a problem should arise.

If it goes away in neutral it's likely a mount like I said. It may not be broken but just beginning to break. Other things could also cause vibrations, like the ac compressor or a misfire.

I do not believe the issue he is having is " damaged mount" related.

The car doesn't shake that's for sure.

Sometimes it starts immediately when the cars idle in drive and sometimes it takes a couple of seconds. I thought it was something rattling around close to the firewall or in the dash. Its heard more prominently in the cabin but can be heard outside of the car.


My problem is that it gets annoying.
