Was on the dyno to detune the car for upcoming track day. I had dropped the boost to 25psi and pulled 2deg of timing to keep it alive for a full day of 20min sessions at Barber Motorsports Park. After getting it set for the track, I turned the boost back up to what I run on the street, but kept the retarded timing in the tune to make sure nothing happened on the dyno that might ruin my track day. I'll go back with the timing back in it soon and see what it will really do, but I was pretty happy with 315/285
Here's a comparison of the road course tune vs. the street tune with retarded timing.

Just a larger turbo, custom exhaust manifold, larger intercooler, upgraded motor/trans mounts, and the best open air intake in the market.... Countless hours on the dyno, hp tuner,.... Etc etc etc....

A custom exhaust, a larger intercooler, aftermarket motor mounts, a good cold air intake and a tune done right can get this little 1.4 to make around 180 to 220 whp. So upgrading the turbo can add 80 to 100 whp on top of that?

A stock turbo will never make 220whp or even 200whp for that matter. with everything you listed I made managed 189whp/250wtq on the stock turbo at 23psi peak, falling to 17psi at the limiter. As far as I know, that still the record for pump gas. I think another member made 5-7more on 100octane.
A MUCH, MUCH larger turbo will easily add well over 100whp.

Hey bud, you were right. I apologize if I came across like if I was questioning you. I just did not know that you could add so much horse power by simply upgrading the turbo.

Single or twin scroll?

Also how bad is the turbo lag? ( if and when I do turbo my 1.8 maybe eventually I'm kinda looking at something that comes in around 2.5/3k because I want to keep decent fuel economy

It's a Borg Warner EFR. They designed the turbine housing so that the internal gate works as it should. Borg claims it works as well as an external, I'm not so sure, but there is ZERO boost creep.
I chose an internal gate to keep things simple.

That's cool I have been considering upgrading the turbo on mine too but you are right about keeping it simple. First I have to figure out how to fuel it correctly, not sure if I wanna go hptuners route or something out. Then I have to choose a turbo, I want bigger but obviously not too big Bc of lag, I will end up with a twin scroll ball bearing turbo not sure what size yet. Either way I need to make a turbo manifold but with the twin scroll it will require a split equal length runner manifold with dual external wastegates, to equalize exhaust pulses and reduce spool up time. So ya, simple may be the way to go. Then not too mention make an intake manifold that can handle more power. Jeesh lol [emoji23]
