Lubricating chassis

Approaching the 5,000 mile service interval, which specifies, "Lubricate chassis components." Has anyone done this themselves and, if so, do you have any recommendations?

When I changed the oil at 1000 miles, I neglected to inspect for rubber or polyurethane bushings or whether there were any zerk fittings. Did a forum search for chassis, suspension, bushings, silicone, etc., and didn't see anything that applied.

I've asked the shop to do it every time my car goes in for anything. I've never been charged for it.

Tempting, but since I prefer to change my own oil and can get my tires rotated and brakes checked for free, this is pretty much the last piece of the 5,000 mile puzzle.

When I get my brakes checked, I ask if they mind lubricating my chassis. Haven't had a no yet.

Ahhhhh. The old chassis lube recommendation. FYI, there's not a single zerk/grease fitting anywhere on the Sonic's suspension/chassis/drivetrain. "Lubricate chassis" is just some generic vague gibberish that the lazy F'ers over in GM's Service Information group just carry over from vehicle to vehicle, year after year.

I'm glad no one's getting charged for this request.

Ya they want you to replace a arms, tie rods, and suspension components....so they can charge u labor and hoard our hard earned $

Thanks for the replies gang. Perhaps I'll just squirrel underneath with a few old rags and a spray can of silicone and have my way with her. Though it may be of little use, at least I'll get the satisfaction of having done something.
