minor scratches on bumper - how much to fix ?

the drivers side rear bumper got a few scratches from some other car, parking is very tight at this apartment complex but the person was considerate enough to leave a note WOW scratches only on plastic bumper piece not the metal panel

so i got a repair estimate from reputable body shop because chevy dealer where i got the car doesn't do painting, other place approved by major insurance companies etc and then was able to get $50 from the driver because its just not worth all that major effort, I will sand the scratches a bit and then splash some silver paint on them

whew $561 is about 3.5% of what this new car cost 1 yr ago = $16000

500 to paint a bumper isnt bad if they do a great job . macco paints a whole car for 500 but its a s#!tty job. if u dont care about it being perfect , go get the paint pen from gm or napa or ac delco and do it yourself .

labour seems high tho , 4hr to take a bumper off and prep for paint is alot and 4 hrs seem like alot to paint the bump too . looks like they are charging you for the paint to dry lol

Go grab some tooth paste and it will take the scratch out.

Touch Up Paint and Accessories | AutomotiveTouchup these guys. the paint is a little expensive but its a PERFECT match. even on older cars with faded paint. get a bottle of touch up and a bottle of clear. maybe primer too depending. follow the instructions and wetsand when dry. buff and your good to go. this is how I always fix paint issues on my cars.

if that's NOT through the paint, it'll buff out. If it's down to the black plastic...I'd just take some masking tape, tape off right ABOVE the bend on the bumper wheel arch. Rough up the paint with some of that green fiber-sponge thing...to give the paint a key. Then get a small spray can of that paint color and put a couple of coats, feathering out towards the tape edge.

Then I'd remove the tape, let the paint dry fully, then use polishing compound to smooth out the taped edge...shouldn't be able to tell you ever were there...

Most paint shops can make you a spray paint in the OEM color.
