i think my port died. any way to find out if that is true. or if not when i go to the dealership how should i bring it up?

well my scan tool stopped working with the car, but its a cheap chinese unit so it could be that
and hptuners would only partially connect, but it is a beta so it could have been that.

True a good scan tool that's not china or beta if they fail go to dealer u might have a loose pin

I'm pretty sure there is a fuse for it as well, maybe that scan tool popped it. Also, borrow another tool and try yours on another vehicle to eliminate variables.

Check the cigarette lighter fuse. That is usually what powers the OBD port.

Advance auto, and probably other similar parts stores, has loaner scanners. They aren't really good for anything but checking an engine code, but it would be a free way to find out if your OBDII port is dead.

Alternately you could go in to your Chevy dealership and tell them you thought you saw a check engine light intermittent flash.

loose pins are notorious in GM products. technology is great, modules rarely die...but the wiring harness just puts all that to waste.

however...your little module likely took a dump on you. spend more than 20 bucks into a new one and it should last.

At the dealer today, getting an oil change and told them about the obd2 problem. They plugged a quick scanner on it and it got power. I told them that was not the problem it does not read. So a few minutes later they said the car has a software update .... I'm wondering if the obd2 port problem will show its head with that update not going through

It's their problem if the update doesn't go through unless they can prove that you somehow shorted out the OBD II port.

They said nothing was wrong with the port. So it could have been my scan tool
