Not the best pic, but this is what I used:

Hose size was 5/8" and it slipped right into the stock connectors.

Replace you replace the hoses in the PCV system. One connection is on top of the intake manifold. The second connection is on the air intake side of the turbo.

I dont have the turbo, but still get blow by resedue which is why im going with the catch can also.

So the catch can did not work out for the 1.8 , clean tight connections and im assuming it wasnt enough vacuum pressure at idle because it idled like crap and threw a code.

any recommendations on a can? Baffle necessary? Read on one of the other threads someone was using steel wool scrubber as a filter in a non-baffled can. This might be my next addition.

In between the pcv connections from crankcase to can and from can to throttle body. I dont think the vacuum demand is met at idle with the can and thr length of the hose to such connections was longer than the normal route. Or the cheap can has very small connections one of the two

A cheap can, can cause problems

I would also try blocking the Tb port and venting to atmosphere

Agreed 100%. Don't cheap out if you want to do this. Mine was not a cheap can and I have had 0 problems with it.

Blocking the throttle body and venting to the air.. so basically run a breather ? Or will the blow by still find its way into the can without vacuum?

The oil is still in the blow by, it will just get trapped in the can on its way out, but you really should spend the money on a baffled catch can

But do you thinking blocking the throttle body port and venting the catch can is a good idea? how will the pcv filter out without the vacuum from the throttle ?

Well I ran a K&N breather on the end of the pcv hose and blocked the throttle port for about 3 weeks, seemed fine, but I couldn't fine any researched that proved it would be fine on the 1.8 so I put it back to stock, but then used a cheap catch can, because the thought of that blow buy gumming up my intake and valves bothers me.

I mean it's also a 1.8, you should have hardly any blow by yet, And what little there is would have been pushed to the can.

Well there is alot of vacuum pull at idle, what about just running the breather on the end if the line and no catch can?
