I just spent an hour reading many many threads about this PCV. I've seen the kit that fixes it and I've searched. Did GM issue a recall or do new 2018 2019 MY still have this issue?

My car doesnt even have 1k miles on it. Should I just order the kit and fix it before I have issues..

No . . . no GM recall on the PCV. Best to buy a spare cover with integral PCV and clean the original once or twice a year. Use CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner. Do NOT use Throttle Body, Carb or Brake Cleaner on it.
There is a thread here on the forum with a list of things to be aware of on the 1.4L engine and also on PCV maintenance.

If you plan on keeping the car over 2 or 3 years, I would just buy the valve cover with the PCV in it. I think $120 or less can be found.

And the pcv kit may HELP BUT . . . Better to stay stock while under warranty because if you modify and start di*king with engine components and anything else goes wrong. .. . dealers will deny warranty coverage and it will be on you.
If not. . well you take your chances, but we read all the time here of those who just had to mess with things and then cry "GM won't cover it. My mod had nothing to do with the failure" . . and on and on.

Buy the hand full of parts that are now really maintenance items, have them on hand, and leave well enough alone if you want your car to stay in prime shape.

JTee thank you for the links and fast reply. I guess I'll leave it alone until I run into problems. Sucks that this was a known problem since 2011 and GM hasn't come up with a better solution..

Yeah, I agree. But at least it can be cleaned and kept on top of.. There are actually 2 PCV valves for the turbo 1.4L so be sure to read and bookmark the link I gave earlier. Pirateluke did a great job on detailing how to clean and what to look for.

So correct me if I'm wrong, the PCV check valve shown in figure 2 is the real easy one to clean and maintain. Just pop off and spray in the CRC MAF cleaner? Do local auto shops have this on shelves?

The one in the cover is the easy one to get to and usually is the more problematic one. So sometimes the small orange part degrades and just falls apart and stops functioning. Therefore the need for regular inspection and cleaning.

Thanks for the help JTee. I quickly popped the hood and glanced at the easy one to Ispect. Looks like it's held on by some clamps and fairly easy to pop off. I'll inspect it out of curiosity this week

Do the fix and replace your valve cover anyways. Once it's completed you'll probably won't have to touch them again for the life of the vehicle where as you're just waiting for it to fail and risking damage to your vehicle.

There is a second PCV path and valve at the turbo inlet. Usually not a problem as stated Above the Figure 1 picture in the thread: - - -

In Figure 1 below you are looking at a close up of this problematic check valve inside the intake manifold which has a 11/32” nut next to it for scale. When entering path two it also passes a second less problematic check valve at the turbo inlet.

The turbo is below the valve cover. I guess I'm getting myself confused. Figure 1 is inside the intake valve. Only way to clean that is by removing the entire intake valve right? Figure 2 is the hose above the intake manifold and that's the one we're supposed To clean regularly. "To verify your check valve is there, it’s as simple as removing the metal retainer on the hose in Figure 2 below and lifting up (located right behind the engine cover on top center of the intake manifold). Looking down that hole is looking down the hole labeled “Path 2/Boost” in Figure 1. You should see the orange nipple of the check valve if it’s still there." So is figure 2 for only inspecting you still have the orange nipple or cleaning?? I never saw mention of where or how to gain access to the turbo inlet.

Ok, just watched a good video on the cruze forums explaining it all. He swares on the forums cleaning does not help in anyway. I will just for piece of mind. I'm becoming more and more nervous about this. Like I'm driving a ticking bomb.

Good find on the video. The Cruze forum has a lot of other good info as well. A lot more Cruze were sold and purchased and therefore a lot more owners and information exchanged there.
I wouldn't fret too much about a "ticking time bomb". And cleaning that orange PCV part maybe once every 8,000 to 10,000 miles, may help at least fend off clogging.
Otherwise, if you are going to be proactive, purchase both a valve cover and intake manifold, along with a water outlet, thermostat and water pump and you will have pretty much all the "wear" items on the 1.4L engine. . . . for much less than some dubious extended warranty. Then, if/when you need those items replaced, you'll have your spares on hand ready to go!
