PS3 file corruption, any fix?

I have been playing Plants Vs Zombies, Garden Warfare. It is a great game, but it has repeatedly frozen my PS3 slim. Last night it froze up, and now it goes through the "fix" (it takes FOREVER) that it does, and then it claims it's still corrupt and wants to fix it again. From what any of you have experienced, is this thing toast? I did a search and saw a bunch of sites that claim to have remedies and fixes, and I'll look into those later after I get home from work. I wanted first hand knowledge from any of you that have been through it.

Also, are all my accomplishments for this game going to be lost? Or since it's an online only game is everything server side and when I log in on a new PS3 or PS4 will I be ok?

When I get the prompt to fix mine, I turn it off with the controller and then turn it back on. I had mine in my truck with me and often it would have power issues which would prompt a fix after it booted but a power cycle made it go to dashboard.
