Great, problem solved! But you should still let your dealership know they forgot the other 2 screws.

Mine was missing the bottom screws as well. Even after I installed some it was still rattling. The final solution for me was to stick to furniture felt feet to the back of the license plate before screwing it on. Worked like a charm.

I've never bought a car where the dealer used four screws on every plate. I buy them myself as well.

I did contact the dealer, he says most of the vehicles they get come in with two screw holes and rubber tabs, but that he will tell the detailing department to keep an eye out for this.

It's certainly no big deal, but that sound had been bugging me for a couple weeks before I realized what was making it, and if the dealership spends the extra few pennies to do the job right in the first place, it will, I think, make a better impression on their customers, and anyone else who ends up looking at someone's brand new Sonic.

That's not a lot of swords, just a small load, you should have seen the one I brought down from MA yesterday, five times as many. It looked like I'd installed lowering springs on the back end. Couldn't feel any difference in acceleration, but it was slightly more inclined to... oversteer? I'm not an expert at teh terminology, but the rear end felt like it wanted to kick out more easily on turns.

Also, had to be careful shifting, the 6'5" greatsword tip ran all the way up to the dashboard. It made a great passenger armrest though!

Back in the good old days when catalytic converters and so heat shields were introduced, rattleling shields were common. "Mechanics" would often fix this by bending/prying the shield so it would be stiffer and less resonant. At least that was the case on my '75 Vega.

And would I get a discount for 1. Being a SOF member and 2. For not needing the blade tp be ground sharrp (I do tend to hang onto the armrest pretty hard around turns and I don't want my new "armrest" to be the last place my arm is resting).

Yes, yes I can... I fit five times that many in a couple days ago.

I cannot get a sedan, I went car shopping with an empty box and a tape measure, one of the top requirements was a vehicle I could fit lots of swords in, sedans all failed that test.

The TTR solid mount has summoned other nagging rattles other than the rear plate. The plastic pop rivets that hold the interior panel to the hatch buzz at hwy speeds. Simple solution: put a bead of RTV sealant around them where they clip into the plastic panel.

Also the spring fingers in the cup holders sing the song of the rattle people. A PVC pipe coupon or an even more resourceful, empty roll of duct tape, inserted in the holders cures it. And they will still function as cup holders.

My Sonic vibrates relentlessly, but not a single rattle can be heard.

My dealer used all 4 screws in the rear hatch. The 2 in the bottom were screwed half way in(not holding anything) then the plate and frame were held on by the top 2 screws. Talk about a BAD rattle.

License plate fasteners are something I am fussy about. If there are holes in the plate, there has to be a fastener in it. I use stainless steel frames and stainless steel bolts to avoid corrosion. A perimeter of adhesive backed foam tape prevents rattles and paint scuffing behind the plate.

A rattle is unacceptable.
